As part of our half-termly House activities, students at KD Grammar were tasked with collecting non-perishable food items for our local food bank. Divided into their House teams, the students were competing in the race for good deeds by seeing which house could collect the most items. Staff were also able to take part and donate their items to the house that they belong to. Led by Mrs Grover, the House captains and vice-captains motivated their team members every day after salah to bring whatever they could.
On the last day of half-term, the House captains and vice-captains loaded the school mini-bus and delivered all the collected items to Reach Out to the Community, the only independent food bank in Chorlton. This food bank is the closest to KD Grammar and it was an eye-opening experience for the students to hear about the poverty that exists in the surrounding areas. After unloading the bags of food, the students heard about all the services offered by Reach Out to the Community.
Thank you very much to all parents, students and staff who donated and helped our students to contribute to their local community!
