During the first term of this academic year, our Year 10 Living Islam students visited the residents of Mariana House on a weekly basis. The students’ aim was to help break the isolation and loneliness that can be felt by the elderly. They regularly played games, had conversations and connected the residents to the outside world.
With the current lockdown due to the Coronavirus, our students thought it would be nice to write letters to the residents, as a way of keeping in touch in these unprecedented times. The Year 10 students had planned to post the hand-written letters with cards. However, due to the current situation, they felt this might not be safe, and so we will be scanning and emailing the letters instead.
In difficult times, a small act of kindness can make a huge difference. We hope the residents benefit and enjoy reading the letters.
